In normal case, we don’t require this option of opening the command prompt by right clicking a folder. But it may be of help in some cases wherein you need to navigate to a very long path in command prompt. This can be easily done by adding certain entries to the registry
1.Go to Start Menu
2.Select Run
3.Type regedit ( to open registry editor)
4.Navigate to [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive]
5.Create a subkey cmd
6.Within cmd create another subkey command
7.In default string value of "cmd" key, put the text Open Command Window Here
8.In default string value of command key,put the text C:\WINDOWS\System32\cmd.exe /k CD"%1"
9.Reboot for these changes to take effect.
10.After reboot just right click on any folder. You will be able to see the option for opening command prompt from there.
I’ve tried it in XP.Not sure if it works properly in Windows 7 or Vista.

Note
: Please be very very careful when you play around with registry entries.Make sure you do everything correctly.Otherwise you might end up in trouble.
