Common Entrance Examination for Design ( CEED )

CEED is a qualifying examination for admission to Post Graduate M.Des. programs at the Industrial Design Centre, IDDC, IIT Delhi; CPMD, IISc Bangalore; design Program, IIT Kanpur, IIT Bombay etc. Each of the institutes will conduct separate interviews for admission to their courses. All these IITs and IISC are amongst the most famous and premier institutes of higher education in the country with best facilities and infrastructure.  These IITs provide excellent infrastructure and campus facility to the students and also provide discipline education to them.  These institutes provide excellent training and placement facility to its students.

Availability of Application forms for CEED 2011:

The forms for Common Entrance Examination for Design 2011 are expected to be available by September end from GATE Office, IIT Mumbai. The form can also be obtained by post by sending a request for the form along with a demand draft. The candidates can also apply online at the IIT Mumbai website www.iitb.ac.in/gate/.

Important Dates:

Date of Entrance Examination: 3rd week of January, 2011

Availability of Application Forms from IIT Mumbai: 4th week of September, 2010

Availability of Application Forms online: mid of 4th week of September, 2010

Availability of Application Forms by post: September 3rd week-October 3rd week, 2011

Last Date for receipt of completed application forms: 1st week of November, 2010

Eligibility criteria:

Candidates applying for CEED should have one of these degrees:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Architecture/ Design/ Interior Design, or equivalent.

2. Professional Diploma in Design NID/CEPT, or equivalent.

3. B.F.A. 4 year professional programme, after 10+2.

4. G.D. Art 5 year programme after 10th with one year professional experience.

5. Master’s degree in Arts / Science / Computer Applications

Pattern of Examination:

The duration of examination will be 3 hours and it will be divided in to two parts:

Part I:

1. Visual Perception

2. Creative Ability

Part II:

1. Written Communication

2. Ability to express precisely one’s thoughts on a given topic

3. Ability to comprehend a given passage in English and summarize it
