Poornam Infovision Selection – a personal record.

Its pretty long that I made a post here. Now here with a kind of novel post.

I am jotting down my experience of the Poornam Infovision placement drive conducted at SHREDS Kerala.Many of ma friends asked me to put a personal note here.

There were 3 rounds for the selection:

1) Written Test

2)Technical Interview

3) HR Interview

As always i reached the test venue 30 minutes before the schedule. With drops of hope and oceans of prayers i entered the hall. The test had many sections with sectional cut off.

The technical part had questions from Logic design, digital, CAO, Operating System, Computer Network etc. Some of them were really easy . From OS questions related to scheduling were asked. I have found questions from this section before also.Linux questions were mainly based on commands ,booting process ,file system etc. And its bit tough for non-linux users. C questions were relatively easy. Test Ur C Skills(Yeshwanth Kanithkar) is more than enough.Aptitude questions was bit hard. The distribution is like:

Tech-15; C-10; Apti-10 ;Linux-10 ; Communication skill test: essay on “What do u prefer team work or working independent”. As  a person with common sense do,I supported team work .

After the test the result was out with in 1.5 hrs. With no hope i was waiting for the results so that i can leave home once its out. But to my surprise my name was called. As per the schedule there was no interview that day. But to our surprise they announced that interview will be on the same day. My interview was scheduled at 1.30 pm. Expecting only test on the day i was in full casuals with a face which took a shave a week before. Some how i managed to get things track on time. By 2 my name was called.

Q: Introduce yourself..

A: answered it well (including all the extra curricular activities )

he was impressed with it and shared complement for being the placement cord during college days. With that he started asking technical stuff

Q: tell me something abt prjct

A: (i told abt ma prjct)

he asked me to write a piece of code frm the project.

I explained him the algorithm and logic. He was impressed with that and told me not to proceed with .net code.

Q: Favorite subject?

A: Computer Networks.

Q: Layers of OSI

A: physical,data,network,transport,session,presentation n application

Q: Name all the protocols in each layer?

A: i started with all protocols which i was very much sure. Then finally when he asked “only this much” i told the rest which i am not sure about the layer they fall. he was impressed with it. The same question was asked to others and they told

ip -n/w, tcp- transport,http-application. I had referred wikipedia’s osi article much before. That helped to tell more than a dozen of protocols and corresponding layers correctly.

Q: Difference btwn tcp n udp?

A: one is connection oriented othr is connection less…by that time d next ques came

Q: hw is connection established in tcp?

A: i explained d 3 way handshaking with dig. bt then he asked why its called 3-way handshaking. i could not answer that.

With this ma tech interview was over. Before i left that hall, shreds rep came and told that i will have HR interview with in an hour.

General Tip: Be thorough with your project and one of the papers.

HR interview was cool and short.

Q:introduce yourself?

A: i did.

Q: ur resume says u are the campus ambassador of ipsr, hw many are there frm ur campus?whats ur role?

A: there are 2. IPSR conducts many sessions and we were the part of it . We impart that knowledge to the students of our campus to take them to the right path of career.

Q: what are ur hobbies?

A:blogging,tweeting.hearing music (same as what i wrote in resume)

Q: Why twitter? whats its pecularity?

A: told some advantages of twitter like “freedom of expression”, brand building with cetlylive experience etc.

That was all i had for HR interview. HR told that they will inform us with in a week. On fourth day i got the call from poornam followed by the offer letter. I was one among the four who got selection
